California author Marcelo Brazzi earned his degree in systems engineering from the University of California and served as a spacecraft engineer on NASA’s Apollo program. He has been a computer science instructor at California State University, and has enhanced his perspective of the world through his extensive travels, and as a photographer of total solar eclipses from such vantages as Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Everest.

In The Liberal Record: Everything You Need to Know, Marcelo Brazzi presents a strong overview of both the conservative and liberal political movements in the United States. Brazzi’s own political bent is evident in his depiction of conservatives and liberals. Of conservatives, he writes, “they tend to believe anyone of a different ethnicity is a threat to them,” and that they “resist changes and anything or anyone new or different.” He counters, “Liberals are the agents of change and progress, particularly in shifting power to the general citizenry.” He asserts, “Virtually everything we take for granted today in our government and culture is the result of liberal progress over the years.”

The author claims to have a balanced political view and to treat the different ends of the political spectrum fairly. The book actually exaggerates the benefits of liberalism, crediting it with almost all the virtues that people would count as elements of a good society, and then blames the conservatives for every wrong and failing. Conservatives are more conscientious, dutiful, respectful of the law and above all value the family more than liberals do. Sure, conservatives have a more intense dislike of out group members, but liberals aren't free of that prejudice either...

Author Marcelo Brazzi is an interesting man. One look at the bucket list on his website will tell you this. He has traveled the world, climbed Mr. Everest, run the rapids of the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon, raced a car, worked on spacecraft, is well read, multi-lingual, a father to three, lives near the ocean, and loves his life. He also had a fascinating career as an aerospace development engineer and part of the NASA team who worked with the Apollo missions. Brazzi brings his passion and intelligence to his writing in this very potent, emotionally charged, and intensely researched book.

The Liberal Record: Everything you Need to Know by Marcel Brazzi is most definitely a book about Liberal viewpoints through America’s history. It is well researched and presented in a matter-of-fact dialogue. He touches on just about every topic there is from global warming, healthcare, legalization of marijuana to the metric system. I do like the fact that Mr. Brazzi has done what seems to be extensive research in the areas of history. He states the changes in the Democratic and Republican parties from their formation in the 1800s...

I was actually very surprised at how much and how deeply The Liberal Record: Everything You Need to Know, covered the topic of our government and the issues surrounding it. It truly is a deep dive into our political system and issues governed by it.
